The Borough of Barrow-in-Furness is situated at the southern tip of Cumbria, to the north of Morecambe Bay and set against the spectacular backdrop of the English Lake District Mountains.

Barrow is the Lake District’s Premier Shopping Town, where major high street names mingle with local specialist shops in a spacious pedestrianised town centre. Barrow has an indoor market with over 100 stalls as well as the outdoor market. Barrow has an excellent choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants, which offer international cuisine as well as local Cumbrian fayre.
Barrow and the island of Walney, offer a selection of scenic walks, with new Coastal footpaths, Greenways and Cycleways. The coastline boasts two internationally remowned nature reserves. The south Walney reserve is home to 60,000 birds including the largest mixed colony of herring gulls in Europe, whilst the North Walney Nature reserve protects the rare Natterjack toad and the Walney geranium.
